A UNIQUE INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY WORKING WITH SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND BUSINESS FOR GOOD.
Social Entrepreneurship Forum (SE Forum) is a Swedish based non-profit organization, founded in 2004. SE Forum is a network of people working to promote, inspire and empower social entrepreneurs and those interested in the field.
SE Forum is in a dynamic expansion phase in which our interns play an important and active role. SE Forum is now recruiting one intern for the spring 2012 (preferably full-time).
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
SE Forum’s Vision:
SE Forum wants to make the world a better place by promoting social entrepreneurship. We want to see a world where social entrepreneurship is a significant field, gradually competing with traditional corporations and their activities. A world where social entrepreneurship is seen as a norm rather than an alternative way of doing business, in both high- and low-income countries.
SE Forum’s Mission:
SE Forum promotes Social Entrepreneurship through:
-
EMPOWERING social entrepreneurs and providing them with the support, tools and connections to enable them to realize their ideas.
-
INSPIRING people with stories about entrepreneurs and their creative solutions to our global challenges in order to stimulate new innovative ideas and solutions.
-
SHARING knowledge about social entrepreneurship and the business models and methods needed to create and scale social impact.
For nearly 7 years, SE Forum has been approached by individuals and organizations to provide information, support and collaborations with a wide range of partners, including the H&M Anniversary Foundation, the Folke Bernadotte Academy, Forum Syd, and Sida. We have supported and hosted the development of a nationally-recognized social enterprise, Framtidsboxen, with funding support from Allmänna Arvsfonden and an event in Stockholm with Nobel Peace Laureate, Muhammad Yunus.
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
An internship with SE Forum involves a variety of tasks. As an intern you will work with SE Forum’s daily operations and events and with a specific focus on our newly started program “SE Outreach”.
With multi-year funding support from Sida, SE Outreach is a full service incubator program aimed at supporting and facilitating the emergence of social entrepreneurs whose innovations and ideas have the potential to meet global MDG’s (Millennium Development Goals) and problems related to poverty, health, exclusion, environmental degradation and other complex problems in developing countries. The program is designed to have a leverage effect for entrepreneurs in the process of developing their ideas into action and sustainable operations, creating social and environmental impact.
SE Forum has throughout its history had a strong focus on the role that social entrepreneurship can have on development and poverty reduction in low-income countries. This has been reflected in many of our activities. SE Outreach is a multi-faceted program supporting entrepreneurs both in Sweden and abroad who are working on complex problems in developing countries.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Assisting the Program Director in various tasks and areas regarding the processes and task within the program.
-
Arrange seminars, events and meetings, which will provide entrepreneurs with new tools and skills.
-
Facilitation, around the interaction between the entrepreneur and different stakeholders.
-
Managing daily administration within SE Forum’s general operations and events.
We are looking for a person who:
-
is a creative team player and has a strong interest in the field of social entrepreneurship or social development.
-
is structured, independent and willing to initiate and execute new ideas and projects.
-
has advanced communication and social skills.
-
is a person who reads, writes and speaks fluent in English and preferably in Swedish. Additional languages are a plus.
